History of the Mountain

16 August saw all of Y3 getting into one big, bendy bus to head off to Mangere Mountain! We were a very excited group of learners with loads of helpful and kind parents. Mr Rawson introduced the group by performing his mihi and we all sang a waiata to support him. We went on a hikoi up the mountain and are now officially experts on the science, history and people of Te Pane O Mataoho. Our guides for the day Whaea Bobby Joe and Pauline were amazing and full of knowledge. We learnt titi torea (stick games) and made a harakeke putiptui (flax flower) after lunch. We learnt so much and are now integrating our new learning back into our inquiry at school. Kia ora nui to our parents and the staff of Te Pane O Mataoho.

Nga mihi mahana.
Miss Kelso, Y3 Team Leader
