Welcome to St Heliers School

DSC 0052St Heliers is a school that strives for excellence. Our aim is to guide and nurture each student to reach their potential in all areas of school life. Integral to achieving this aim is having a close partnership between home and school.

Being a full primary (Years 1 to 8) we are in a unique position to see the development of the students from young bright-eyed 5 year olds to young adolescents. From the earliest stages of their schooling, students are encouraged to be independent, responsible learners.

Older students are expected to look out for younger students. At the start of the year senior classes are buddied up with a junior class to support the children in various aspects of their schooling. This also helps to create the family atmosphere we want at St Heliers.

Year 6 Tournament

basketballGirls: On Friday 14 September eight Year 6 girls went to a basketball tournament at St Kents Primary School. The girls found it thrilling and exciting to watch and play their games. They played against many different schools such as Kohimarama, St Ignatius, Churchill Park, St Thomas’s and Parnell.

Even though we came last we all had loads of fun, and every game we played our performance improved. At the end of the day, we felt proud and tired.

Thank you to the parents who gave up their time to coach and manage our team, we had such a great time.

Boys: On Tuesday Week 8 a team of eight Year 6 boys went to St Kentigern Prep for a basketball tournament. We came 7th place out of 8 teams. We had a great time playing and everyone really enjoyed it.

Out of the four games we played throughout the day, we won one of them. The competition standard and the scores were extremely close.

After a long day of basketball we were all hot, sweaty and tired, but happy about our progress. We are very thankful to the two parents that came to help us on the day, we had such a great time.
Luka, Matthew and Nico, Y6 Students
