On Monday Week 10 the Pakakē team (Year 5 and Year 6) sent 10 eager netball teams to the St Johns netball courts for the annual Bay Suburbs Netball Tournament.

Teams enjoyed playing competitive six-aside netball against other local schools. St Heliers had four Year 5 teams and six Year 6 teams. The games were played in 10 minute halves and local secondary students umpired. We had ten minute breaks in between each of the games. Teams played in different pools and rounds for the tournament.

A special mention to St Thomas’ school for hosting the competition and all of the organisation.

Multiple Year 6 teams placed first on the day with a Year 5 team gaining second in their grade. Overall 6/10 St Heliers teams placed in the tournament.

It was a very successful day for all where great sportsmanship, attitudes and efforts were presented throughout the day. A huge thank you to the parent coaches and managers and supporters who came on the day and cheered us on. We would like to say a very big Thank You to Miss Franklin and Mrs Darke for making the SHS netball dreams come true and for waking up early for the Netball training!! We all had so much fun.
