Reporting to Parents
As a close school community, we value the contact with our parents and caregivers. Throughout the year we have meetings and interviews scheduled to talk about our pupil's progress and achievements.
SHS School Family Open Evening
Term 1
This is the first opportunity of the school year for children to introduce their parents to their teacher and for our Principal to meet our SHS community, introduce our staff and talk about the school year.
Goal Sharing
Term 1
Ten-minute time slots are booked by parents, to meet with their child and classroom teacher to share goals in reading, writing and mathematics. These goals will be reflected in the Term 2 written report and at the Three-way Conference new goals will be set.
Student Reports
Term 2 and 3
Two written reports are issued for each student - one mid-year and one at the end of the year. These inform the child and their family on the progress and achievement across the curriculum, the Key Competencies, teacher feedback on the progress of the goals, and a general comment on their progress.
Three-way Conferences
Term 2
This is a conversation between the child, parents/whānau, and the teacher. It is a conversation about what the child is learning at school rather than what they are doing at school.
Parents book a fifteen-minute time slot, to meet with their child and the classroom teacher. The child shares their progress and achievement over the first two terms of learning.
Meetings with your child's teacher
If you require a meeting with your child’s class teacher, contact the office or email the teacher directly to organise a suitable time.
Please note our teachers have meetings after school on several days.
