Naming Uniforms

Every item of clothing and footwear must be clearly named with either a permanent marker pen or an iron on/sew on label.

Sports Uniform

Sports Uniform (Years 4-8). Note that starting February 2025 students in Year 3 will require the sports uniform.

Sports uniform is only worn to school for an early morning sports practice, when representing our School at any interschool competition (such as Bay Suburbs or Eastern Zone),  or a whole school sporting event. At all other times, the full school uniform is to be worn to and from school. 

St Heliers School Sports Uniform:

  • Navy and maroon v-neck sports top with school logo

  • Navy and maroon shorts

  • Sports shoes and socks are optional

  • School jacket

  • School hat

Hair

Hair ties, ribbons, clips and hair-bands are to be in plain colours (navy, light blue, maroon) in keeping with the school colours. For safety reasons, hair is to be securely tied back if it is shoulder length or longer.

Footwear

School footwear will be worn when entering or leaving the school. Shoes and sandals must be cleaned regularly.  Girls may wear white ankle socks, navy tights or regulation school socks with all black school shoes.  Boys must wear the regulation school socks with all black school shoes.  Both girls and boys may wear black school sandals with a back strap during summer. Note, boots such as Converse ‘Chuck Taylors’ do not constitute school shoes and sandals such as Crocs are not permitted.

Socks

Socks are to be kept up when entering or leaving the school and at school assemblies.

Hats & Beanies

It is not compulsory to wear the school hat to and from school, but the school hat must be worn during playtimes, lunchtimes and sports times from Labour Day (approximately week 4 of Term 4) until the end of Term 1.

The school beanie can be worn in Terms 2 and 3.

Jacket wearing

Each teaching team has different expectations around wearing the school jacket indoors.
School-wide, no jackets for Citizenship or Excellence Assemblies, but jumpers may be worn at these assemblies. The hall heaters can be utilised on cold afternoons.

Raincoats

Children have the option of wearing the school jacket or a plain coloured raincoat (navy, light blue, maroon) in keeping with our school colours.

Jewellery and Makeup

Watches and stud earrings may be worn. Necklaces of cultural or religious significance are permitted but must be worn inside shirts. No other jewellery is permitted. Makeup and nail polish is not to be worn by the children.

Scarf

A scarf is available to be purchased just for the Intermediate children year 7 and 8.
