Round the Bays

Well, that was fun!

A big congratulations to everyone who took part in Round the Bays on Sunday 2nd March. I really enjoyed travelling in on the bus with some of you, and then so many more of you were able to find me, thanks to our wonderful whale balloon which handled the 8.4kms superbly and is still floating around on my lounge ceiling!  I counted around 50 people connected with St Heliers School, but trying to get them all in one place at one time for a photo proved impossible.

It was super hot out there on the course but everyone did so well. Some of our athletes ran amazingly fast times. Others learned the reason why we shouldn’t start too fast…but everyone loved the music, drums, bagpipes, hoses, and the cheering crowds as they weaved their way along the waterfront to our very own St Heliers.

The reward of a medal, a huge sense of personal pride, and free Powerade topped off a magical and memorable morning. Thank you to those parents who were able to make this experience possible for their children, especially those of you who had never run that distance before. It was worth it!

Now we look forward to the Weetbix Tryathlon at the end of March, with training sessions already underway.
